Chosen The Right Garden Sprinkler

Garden Sprinklers

Like any keen gardener – I’m always looking for ways to make your life easier in the garden. Watering the garden can be very time consuming and a garden sprinkler comes in very handy when you don’t have the time to stand there and water your garden.

There are a range of different types of garden sprinklers available and each one has there own use. The sprinkler that’s right for your garden depends on the size of garden you have

But they are all used for the same purpose – watering your garden.

So I started to look at the various garden sprinklers that are available. There are:

  • Gear drive garden sprinkler: This sprinkler waters in a circular & semi-circular shape. The special spray nozzles make it water evenly – no puddles or dry spots.
  • Circular sprinklers: These will water round in a 360 degree angle. Great for lawns and is also able to give a fine spray for seedlings – waters anything from 15m to 20m in diameter. The circular garden sprinkler rotates continuously this ensures that your garden gets an efficient amount of water. The circular garden sprinkler can be set to a timer which will allow you to switch it on and off when you want to.
  • Square & Rectangular oscillating sprinklers: These sprinklers water forwards and backwards – it has around 10 watering holes from where water flows out of them – can water large square or rectangular areas. The sprinklers can water anything from 180 m2 to 320 m in a rectangular area – depending on the model you choose. This type of sprinkler can either water fast or slow but this is set by you.
  • Impulse sprinkler: Used mostly on larger garden areas. This sprinkler is like an irrigation system. This sprinklers head turns around very quickly and at each turn it let out a burst of water. Will water large areas very quickly.

Garden sprinklers can be positioned in different areas of your garden but as you can see each sprinkler waters differently. One thing is for sure they are very efficient in making sure your garden gets the right amount of water and nutrients.

And sometimes they are very useful in keeping your young kids cool in hot weather!!
